Q&A with Jessie James

J-14 had lunch with singer Jessie James, and as we munched on pizza, Jessie dished on her debut album (out this summer), her single, "Wanted," which she wrote with American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, her favorite beauty item, and more!

J-14: How would you describe your sound?
Jessie: There's a little bit of pop and a little bit of country. If you like Shania Twain, it's similar but it's newer. She came out in the 90's and I'm doing something that's different. There are hip-hop beats and pop music with a fiddle or a banjo and talking about being strong and independent women.

J-14: What was it like writing "Wanted" with Kara DioGuardi?
Jessie: She is great. She's a fireball. She was feisty and tough. We got along perfectly.

J-14: What's your favorite song that you recorded?
Jessie: My favorite song is called "Blue Jeans," which is in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. It's played four times and it's on the soundtrack.

J-14: Who is your biggest musical influence?
Jessie: Shania Twain, love Shania. She's so feisty and she's actually a brunette. There're so many blondes out right now. I love that Miley and Demi Lovato and all those brunettes are coming out of the works.

J-14: Who's your celebrity crush?
Jessie: I have so many. Justin Timberlake. Chad Kroeger, the lead singer of Nickelback. I think he's really cute. Orlando Bloom. Robert Pattinson! He's really cute. That was such a great movie.

J-14: What's one beauty item you can't live without?
Jessie: False eyelashes. I wear them all the time. They're my favorite. I'm obsessed with the sixties and the hair and make up. It's so glamorous and exotic.
