It's been five years since their last album, and Green Day's finally back with a new album, 21st Century Breakdown, out today!
The band -- Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool -- will have a string of appearances including Saturday Night Live tomorrow and the Good Morning America Concert Series next Friday, May 22.
The first single, "Know Your Enemy," is already a huge hit... check it out at greenday.com.

i am still excited for green day's new album and i'm deff going to buy it, but as far as i can tell from there single that was unleashed they sound like they have changed. american idiot was amazing and i still listen to it. i loved that punk-type sound of theirs', but know your enemy sounds too pop-ish for green day, so i don't know what to expect from the rest of the album :/
They're great! I couldn't wait for another album to come out...especially since they're ultra-catchy song from a few years ago, "American Idiot" came out i couldn't wait for another album to hit stores! Green day rocks my socks!

Green Day is 20 years old, and has about 10 albums out, and kids my age only know them for their most successful album, American Idiot. :(
I didn't like American Idiot, it didn't sound like the 90's Green Day that had waaay more energy and ideas.
Now they've gone to the whole 'Rock Opera' phase. Ugh.
Dookie was Green Day's best album. But, I already like this album better than AI.
RE: samie American Idot was not punk! It was POP-punk. Now, Dookie was punk, so was 39/Smooth, Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning.

Green Day is not part of the past. They've been around for too long to be a part of the past. Unless you think 2 or 3 years ago was way in the past.
For all you saying the Jonas Brothers are greater than Green Day, wow. You wouldn't know good music if it slapped you in the face. Green Day are like Punk Gods. Guaranteed all the music you listen to now has been influenced by Green Day or started their band because of Green Day.
Simple Plan and Good Charlotte are examples of that.
And they're not scary. They're awesome. Sure, they might be like 38, but they'll always rock. Once you see them play live if defines amazing.
