why change the name!??!?! i prefer aly & aj!
I think that it's great! It fits them more I think. When I hear Aly & AJ I tend to think of a kid band that has nice hormonics. But hopefully their music will live up to their new mature name.

I can't believe that they are willing to change their name! If I was them, then I wouldn't change because it can cause stuff. I like the new name and everything, but Aly & Aj just seems to suit them more. I hope that they don't get complaints about changing their name to "78Violet!

Well, it's definedly not as catchy as Aly and AJ, and it sounds more like a big band than a duo. Now I have a band on my iPod that has a new name. I only have the album "Rush," though.
I LOVE ALY AND AJ! I AM A BIG FAN! The new name is cool but I would just go by Aly and Aj. It sounds cooler. I am looking forward to their new music. They are really talented and I listen to there music all the time. Aly and Aj rocks!!!

Well.. Hmm, lol I'm not quite sure how I feel about the change in the name. It does sound like a more of a band name, meaning more then two. And it's weird for all of us because we've known them as ''Aly & AJ'' for such a long time. they just came out with their logo last year, the A in a Heart, and now it seems that won't fit them as well if their name is 78Violet.. They were just original the way they had that going, and I loved them, Still do. I don't dislike the name, its kinda reminds me of Blink182 Having numbers in the name haha and one word/and/or Color. So my comment on it is, we'll see :P It' weird, I like Aly & AJ and what they have going for them, their image, but thats something new, and exciting I look forward to see what they're doing with it, and what it means and why, They're telling everyone on a LIVE webcast Thursday, July 16th, I hope some people here read my comment! Cause only 800 people are RSVPed to be watching it, and I KNOW they have a lot more fans who wanna know whats going on. Hey guys, do some research before you judge if you like it or not. A lot of you are saying "If I knew why they changed it..."
They stated that they always wanted a name, but they had never thought of a good one until now. 7 is Aly's lucky number, 8 is AJ's lucky number, and I forget exactly why they picked Violet but they said they looked it up and its meaning really fit their new sound and it means a lot to them.
Personally, I like it.

i really like the name..its very unique and seems like something they would convert to. i've always loved their music, from the time they started, they have a great talent. i can't wait until they're next album, i just wish it was coming out earlier..fall isn't that far away but it seems like aly & aj have taken a really long time to produce this album, hopefully it will be worth it in the long run :)
