Joe Jonas, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry, Shania Twain, Neil Patrick Harris, and Victoria Beckham (pictured above) have all taken a turn as the fourth judge during the auditions for the ninth season of American Idol... but the permanent fourth judge has just been announced.
Joining Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi at the judges' table all season long will be.... drumroll please... Ellen DeGeneres!
The funnywoman will join the new team (Paula Abdul is no longer part of the judges' panel) when the new season debuts in January 2010.
Ellen's reaction? "I'm thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol," she said. "I've watched since the beginning, and I've always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I'll save from not having to text in my vote."
Ha! Said true Ellen style!

That's great! I don't really watch American Idol or Ellen but I'm sure she'll bring some funniness to the table.
i have to wake up at 6 30 every morning cuz i go to a catholic school but i saw on the news she was gonna be the judge i like ellen she is very funny and does very very very lol ish dances when she is on her show in the beginning lol lol

i love ellen degeneres and i love her show! she's hilarious! but to be honest, i'm not excited she's the new judge. she doesn't seem like an american idol judge at all.

I am so gonna not watch AI any more. Paula was one of the nicest ones on the show and she could not say no to any won. unless at auditions but she took it hardly. The show is nothing without her.

Ellen doesn't really have a musical background, but she knows tons about the show; she's even interviewed a LOT of the stars on her show. She is HILARIOUS, but I'm just wondering how she's going to do her show at the same time. Go Ellen!
