On last Thursday night's episode of The Vampire Diaries, Damon's character was reading a Twilight Saga book and talking about how vampires "really" work.
Here's what went down:
Damon: What's so special about this Bella girl? Edward's so whipped.
Caroline: You've got to read the first book first. It won't make sense if you don't.
Damon: Ooh, I miss Anne Rice. She was so on it.
Caroline: How come you don't sparkle?
Damon: Because I live in the real world where vampires burn in the sun.
Later on in the scene, Damon said, "This book by the way has it all wrong."

OMG! That was so funny! I was dying of laughter! Okay yes they kinda did make fun of Twilight, and I am a HUGE Twilight fan! But I thought it was funny.

well its funny, but its sorta RUDE to stephenie meyer and everyone involved with the Twilight books and movies. they worked hard for what they got and vamp diaries are just wannabes that never WILL be.
it was kinda funny but I don't think everyone should make a big deal out of it. It wasn't that bad.

What DID you think? its still WHAT i think. i hate vampire diaries! although the BOOK came out first, they stole EVERYTHING from twilight! and thats not ok with me! i cant stand it! twilight shows kids you can dream. you can love anybody even if you come from 2 different sides of the world. and to me vampire diaries is imitating it. that just MAKES ME SOOO MAD. I know its not a big deal but it is.to me. im staying true to twilight i always did and always will. The vampire diaries was written years before twilight. if anything twilight stole the ideas from the vampire diaries. i'll admit the the tv show is a lot closer to twilight than the books were and im a huge twilight fan but i read vampire diaries before and people annoy me when they say that its copied from twilight. vampire diaries was out before twilight how could they copy if twilight didn't exist?? i thought what damon said was funny. i love him.

I love Twilight so much, but I found this so funny. I was laughing really hard after he said Edward was whipped. It makes sense, and no person was harmed. It was just a funny little joke. No one should really care so much...it's all fake. Everything Twilight and everything Vampire Diaries is not real. So no one was harmed. I'm pretty sure people have been changing vampire stories or believing them since the beginning. Both these don't go along with Dracula.....so how does poor Dracula feel? Not real=not care. Creator probably wouldn't care either. So, I love Twilight. I laughed at it. No big deal.

I'm with twilight. The Vampire Diaries is like a show that you would want to watch when there is nothing on tv. It's a good show but I love twilight better it's way more dramatic and yet to the say truth The Vampire Diaries is like just a little boring

okay personally I thought that was HILARIOUS!!!! I absolutely adore vampire diaries.... even more than twilight... i thought nothing could top twilight but vampire diaries did!! The special effects are great and the acting is WAY better. sorry to all the twi-hard fans but Vampire diaries ROCK!

Well, Vampire Diaries was written 15 years before Twilight. Personally I love both of them, but I was pretty funn.y This is their lifestyle to them it sounds ridiculous. But it is just the way their characters are, so they don't believe in that stuff everyone has their own opinions, they aren't dissing Twilight. If they were I would be mad, but Im not:D
I love the Vampire Diaries. I used to love Twilight & Edward but I sooo don't like Edward anymore. I love Stefan though & this show is sooo better than twilight but thtas just my thoughts.
These books were written before Twilight, so no one is copying anything. And no one is saying Twilight sucks. You guys are far beyond the point! The Vampire Diaries' vampires are different than the ones in Twilight, so in their "life", it's all fictional vampire stories. Just like our reality, it's all fictional vampire stories.
Stop nagging, it's just a series!
It might be funny if Meyers didn't write the Twilight books to be a different type of vampire to appeal to the more teenage audience. She even states that she wanted to create something new with the Cullens. So I can't see where a series that is basically copying the Twilight series should be making fun of it. I hope that they realize that the people watching their show is Twilight addicts looking to watch the same type of impossible love story that Meyers created.
I thought it was hilarious. I also thought what Damon said was so true. Real vampires don't sparkle, and VD did not copy Twilight. If anything Twilight copied VD, since it came out way before Twilight.

The Vampire Diaries were all written in 1991- 13 years before Twilight! Except The Return: Nightfall. Twilight stole a lot from the books, but granted, Vampire Diaries are stealing a lot of looks from Twilight the movie ex. Stefan Salvatore looks a lot like Edward Cullen.
