From funny sidekick to leading lady, Wizards of Waverly Place's Jennifer Stone talked to J-14 about her first starring role in Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars, dealing with mean girls, and her secret celeb crush!
Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars airs tonight at 8/7c on Disney Channel.
J-14: Are you excited for Blog Wars to finally air?
Jennifer: Oh, I'm so excited! When you work on a movie you feel like it's not real and like you're doing a school play, but just for your family. And when you see it actually on TV it makes it much more real. I can't wait for the fans to see it and just see what they think.
J-14: Is Harriet a really different character for you to play?
Jennifer: Yeah, the funny part is the character is a lot more like me than Harper [my character on Wizards] is. So it wasn't so much of a stretch, but she's definitely different from Harper. I've always been a believer in letting my freak flag fly, and Harriet just goes to the beat of her own drum!
J-14: In the movie, you go head to head with the mean popular girl. Did you ever have any encounters like that when you were in school?
Jennifer: Oh yeah! Who doesn't have an experience like that? I had a girl in elementary school who completely turned all my friends against me -- it was like a big mutiny. But I realized it wasn't my fault, and I didn't do anything wrong.
J-14: In Blog Wars, Harriet begins blogging (and stalking!) a cute popstar. Are there any celebs you'd like to meet?
Jennifer: Selena [Gomez] and I have this fascination with Logan Lerman. He is adorable, and love the fact that he knows what he's doing and seems to work hard.
J-14: What's one thing about you that you think people would be really surprised to find out?
Jennifer: It's really funny -- I'm kind of a punk rock chick. I have that vibe to me.
