J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is Artist Vs Poet!
Here are five things you need to know about Artist Vs Poet, whose debut album, Favorite Fix, drops March 2!
1. Artists Vs Poet formed in November 2007, when singer Tarcy Thomason posted a MySpace bulletin online -- and guitarist Craig Calloway responded! Tarcy came up with the band name out of a need to be original. "When I had thought about band names out there at the time, I just wanted to do something different, and I thought it would catch the ear of some people," Tarcy tells J-14.
2. Tarcy tells J-14 that his fave track off Favorite Fix is "Adorable." "It was the most fun to write, and I think kids will think it's one of the stronger songs on the record," he explains.
3. Artist Vs Poet will be touring with This Providence, The Audition, and Anarbor on the 'Bout Damn Time Tour at the end of March, followed by Vans Warped Tour starting June 24. Check out full tour dates here.
4. Tarcy says his "favorite fix" for a bad day is "a box of party mix Cheez-Its, a can of Dr Pepper, and Jesse McCartney's Departure." And a little known feel better secret -- "I may or may not have just started liking the Twilight series," Tarcy tells J-14.
5. Artist Vs Poet's bass player, Jason Dean, used to be the band's merch guy, and Joe Kirkland is their second guitar player -- they found him on YouTube!
