J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is Motion City Soundtrack!

Here are five things you need to know about Motion City Soundtrack (aka singer Justin Pierre, guitarist Joshua Cain, keyboardist/synthesist Jesse Johnson, bassist Matthew Taylor, and drummer Tony Thaxton), whose fourth studio album, My Dinosaur Life, is out now!

1. Josh's brother came up with the name Motion City Soundtrack!

2. MCS is currently touring overseas, but you can catch them when they come back for their U.S. tour, which starts this April! Check out tour dates after the jump.

3. Matt tells J-14 that his fave track off My Dinosaur Life is "Delirium." "I like the frantic feel of the music and lyrics," he says. "It's really fun for me to play on bass."

4. The band has already started recording new music for their next album while on tour. "One is about tasty treats, one is about a Visa Application Form to Enter Japan, and one is about butts, and we've only just begun!" Matt jokes.

5. Some of the MCS guys have produced for other bands! Justin and Josh produced two songs for Metro Station -- "Kelsey," which made the 2007 album Metro Station, and one other song that didn't. "It was a lot of fun, and it was really strange," Justin says.
