Hey J-14ers,
I was psyched to get a sneak peak of Miranda Cosgrove's upcoming debut CD, Sparks Fly! The album drops April 27, and it's got everything you'd want from the iCarly star -- a sweet pop vibe mixed with catchy lyrics and hot beats that will make you want to keep listening.
But the one thing that makes it different from the tunes on iCarly - Music from and Inspired by the Hit TV Show is Miranda's newfound maturity. Miranda had help from Dr. Luke -- yep, the same guy who wrote songs with Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry -- writing her upcoming single, "Kissin U," the most radio-friendly song on the album. Ke$ha also assisted Miranda, and you can tell on tracks like my fave, "Disgusting," a song about trying to figure out how you can possibly like a boy as much as you do, laid on top of a synth-dance beat.
If there's one thing this debut shows, it's that Miranda can definitely hold her own in the pop world. There's a ton of girl power on this album -- no crying over boys here! Who can argue with that? I can't wait for you guys to hear it later this month and tell me what you think!
And check out this clip of Miranda's first-ever live performance of "Kissin U," from the Countdown to Kids' Choice! pre-show, right here:
