J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is The Ready Set.
Here are five things you need to know about The Ready Set, whose debut album, I'm Alive, I'm Dreaming, hit stores in June!
1. The Ready Set is the alias of Indiana native Jordan Witzigreuter. Part of the reason he came up with a band name was because his last name is so hard to spell, but there's also a real meaning behind the moniker. "I came up with that when I didn't know quite what I wanted to do with my life," Jordan explains to J-14. "I was graduating from high school and didn't know if I wanted to go to college or try to do the music thing. It means being ready to look past all your fears and inhibitions and do what you want to do."
2. The Ready Set will hit the road on The Bamboozle Roadshow starting May 21 in Columbia, MD. All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, LMFAO, and Third Eye Blind are headlining the cross-country tour, which wraps up in Boston on June 27.
3. "Love Like Woe" is the first single off The Ready Set's upcoming debut album, I'm Alive, I'm Dreaming, and Jordan tells us it's the quickest song he's ever written. "It just popped in my head," he admits. "It's the story of being in love with somebody but it's a horrible idea to be in love with them because they're kind of crazy."
4. Jordan is signed to Pete Wentz's record label Decaydance. The two met about a year ago through Jordan's manager -- Pete texted Jordan, they met about six months before The Ready Set got signed, and they've become friends since. Jordan's even been to Pete's L.A. home.
5. Even though he eventually got into Green Day and Weezer, Jordan spent more time humming as a kid than singing. "I had a big phase where I just hummed every time I had a chance, all day," he tells J-14. "The first part of my life I wasn't too into music, and then it was everywhere -- it was a big jump straight into being obsessed with it."
Jordan makes webisodes for fun, and the singer told J-14 that he hopes to score a cameo from Justin Bieber in a future vid! Check out Jordan's reason why here:
