J-14 Blog: Analyzing Taylor Swift's Public Apology to Taylor Lautner

Hey J-14ers,

Taylor Swift just debuted her song "Back to December" off her new album Speak Now, and I am totally obsessed! In fact, I've been listening to the sweet but oh so sad song on repeat all day. In true Taylor fashion, the lyrics are so heartfelt and honest that I can't help but get completely sucked in with each line she sings.

She's said that "Back to December" is "the first time I've ever apologized in song," and I think there's no question that her apology is directed at none other than ex Taylor Lautner. In addition to the obvious clue that the couple broke up last December, let's analyze the lyrical evidence, shall we?

Lyrics: "I'm so glad you made time to see me
, How's life, tell me how's your family?
"
Connection:
Taylor and Taylor were spotted reconnecting at The Farm restaurant in L.A. this March -- their first public appearance together since the breakup.

Lyrics: "When your birthday passed and I didn't call
"
Connection:
When Taylor Lautner turned 18 on February 11, Taylor Swift was busy touring in Australia. So it definitely makes sense that she might not have made a long-distance call to tell him, "happy birthday."

Lyrics: "And I think about summer all the beautiful times"
Connection:
The Taylors met on the set of Valentine's Day last summer, hit it off, and spent the summer together.

Lyrics: "I watched you laughing from the passenger side"
Connection:
Taylor Lautner was spotted laughing in his Audi R8 sportscar last October -- and Taylor Swift was in the passenger seat.

Lyrics: "I miss your tan skin, your sweet smiles"
Connection:
Um, can you think of anyone who has better tanned skin or a sweeter (award-winning!) smile than Taylor Lautner??

I wonder what Taylor Lautner thinks of "Back to December." Maybe hearing Taylor Swift's sincere apology will make him give her a second chance at love. I hope he called her and now they've starting to rekindle their love. She does say, "If we loved again, I swear I'd love you right." Here's hoping!

xoxo,
Ashley
