J-14 Hot Band Alert: Weatherstar

J-14 is scouting out the hottest music around... and this week's pick is Weatherstar.

Here are five things you need to know about Weatherstar, whose EP Weatherstar is out now.

1. American/British singer/songwriter and guitarist Cameron Walker-Wright formed Weatherstar in the summer of 2009. After being in a few different bands, including Linden in Wisconsin, Show me the Skyline in Connecticut, and View From an Airplane in Massachusetts, Cameron started a project under his own name. "As things moved forward with writing, and the vibe of the band started to develop lyrically, I started using a lot of metaphors involving the weather and my own emotions -- the band name is a reflection of that," Cameron tells J-14.

2. Weatherstar's current single is called "Postcards," and it's about getting your heart broken by the person you love. "The title of the song was inspired by this huge box of postcards that I had saved up from my girlfriend at the time from when she was away," Cameron explains. "I wanted to try and capture the feeling of being totally in love and then having your relationship torn apart in the blink of an eye."

3. Weathestar is currently working on their full length debut album. "I'm really stoked on the direction of the new stuff," Cameron tells us. "I don't want to say too much about it but I think fans will be totally surprised by it -- in a good way!"

4. Cameron says that most Weatherstar fans are respectful, chill, and awesome, but one time a fan's mom pulled out some of his hair as a souvenir!

5. Cameron's celeb crush is Katy Perry.
