Meet Sam, a 14-year-old from Winchester High School who won our "Search for Invisalign Teen" contest. She dishes to us her Invisalign experience.
What is your overall feeling about your Invisalign Teen treatment?
Sam: At first I did not know what to expect with Invisalign. My orthodontist spent time talking to me about them, and when I received my Invisalign aligners it was just what I expected and more. There was only one thing that surprised me with my aligners. I did not expect them to be so clear- they were better than I expected, which was great. At first I it seemed that they would hurt, but I was told to put them in at night, and I did not feel a thing. When I woke up in the morning I felt like they fit perfectly..
Did you loose any aligners during your treatment?
Sam: During my treatment I did lose one set when I was at my hockey camp. When we were leaving it was very hectic and I left them in the hotel room. Thankfully my orthodontist was very nice and just ordered me a new set and had me just wear the previous set until they arrived.
What do you think were the biggest benefits to straightening your teeth with Invisalign Teen instead of traditional metal braces?
Sam: I liked Invisalign because in all pictures you look good and your braces don't stand out. Another reason is that there are special mouth guards that you have to get with braces but without braces, you can get regular mouth guards which are more comfortable. One other reason is that some of my friends have braces and they say that they hurt and that they can't eat all of the things that they want. With my Invisalign aligners I can eat what ever I want and it doesn't hurt since the movement is more gradual.
What do you think of your new smile?
Sam: My treatment is not finished yet but I am very impressed with my smile and Invisalign so far.
Anything else you want to share?
Sam: Many of my friends have now started to investigated as an alternative to braces for themselves and my cousin got them to re-align her teeth AFTER having braces.
