Hey J-14ers!
With September right around the corner, naturally I can't wait to go shopping for the fall (my favorite season!). As much as I'll miss the hot Jersey weather and days spent on the beach, I can't wait to be able to wear layers, leggings, and my favorite sweaters again. And as much as I enjoy wearing them, shopping for new pieces to add to my wardrobe is definitely one of my favorite things to do.
I feel that it's important to incorporate a little creativity when it comes to assembling my wardrobe for the day. We all deal with peer pressure and the desire to fit in but you shouldn't be wearing something simply because someone else wears it or thinks it's cool. You should LOVE what you wear, wear what you LOVE, and really own it. Feel free to express yourself and dress in whatever you want to wear without worry about what someone is going to say. Taking chances is what fashion is all about.
One of my new favorite shops is all about that. The Skinny Dip Shop, founded by Kelly Shami, believes firmly in originality and creativity. "The Skinny Dip Shop is about feeling liberated," Mark Shami, a member of pop-rock band Action Item who also runs the clothing line, tells J-14. "Our items embody the ideas that you are free, you can wear whatever you want, and don't ever dare to not take chances." Based out of New York City, the Skinny Dip Shop was founded last summer and has since gained popularity within the music culture with support from bands including Action Item and The Summer Set. Stephen Gomez and Josh Montgomery of The Summer Set were even wearing Skinny Dip tees when we saw them at Six Flags! From cute tees and tanks to unique accessories, they're the perfect addition to any wardrobe. The clothing line is set to be released on September 20, so keep on the look out.
Check out their line here and follow them on Twitter at @theskinnydipshop.
Until next time!
