
When High School Musical director Kenny Ortega made his directorial debut with the 1992 movie musical Newsies about the 1899 newspaper boys' strike, the movie was considered a flop. But thanks to the power of DVD and home video, the musical built up an audience over the last two decades and is making its Broadway debut this week, opening on March 15.
