Just in time for the premiere of Disney's Channel's 'Let it Shine', Coco Jones talks about her time on the set playing Roxie, a teenage singing sensation! Catch Coco on screen tonight at 8/7c!
J-14: What went on in between takes on the set of 'Let it Shine'?
Coco Jones: It was so much fun being the only girl and the youngest one! Off set, we saw 'Paranormal Activity 3', bowled, and played games. I had an embarrassing moment on this dark stage when I could have sworn there was a step right next to me, but there wasn't, and I slipped and fell! I walked away like nothing happened.
J-14: In the film, Cyrus writes a song for a girl he likes. What's the most romantic thing someone's ever done for you?
Coco: On Valentines Day, my dad always gets something sweet for my sister and me. [One year] he gave us a gift basket of chocolate-covered strawberries and jewelry.
J-14: What do you have in common with your character, Roxie?
Coco: At the end of the movie, [Roxie] really starts to believe in herself. I have a lot of confidence and I don't care what anybody else thinks. I love me for me and that's one of the things Roxie has to learn. That's when we really come together.
J-14: Some Disney fans are making connections between 'Let it Shine' and 'High School Musical'. What do you think if the comparison?
Coco: I don't think it's like 'High School Musical'. [That movie] is about a musical production and it was about musical things, but 'Let It Shine' is more music-based because it takes place in the studio. It's not a Broadway type [of movie].
J-14: What was the craziest costume you got to wear?
Coco: For one of Roxie's outfits, I wore these tall moon boots that were bright silver. Another time I had on a turquoise onesie and a pink wig!
