Fourteen-year-old Farah is just like you... she reads J-14 Magazine, she loves One Direction and Justin Bieber, and she even started a homemade magazine of her own! But she lives across the world in Syria, where the crisis situation has escalated in recent weeks. Farah guest blogs for J-14 about what teen life is like right now in her country.
Once upon a time there used to be peace in my country, peace in my heart, and peace in my thoughts... until people started acting so selfish, which actually made a war. But that's not the point I care about -- what I care about is that we became the victims of this war and being the victim isn't easy at all. It's scary and uncomfortable.
But on the bright side, these situations in my country have made me stronger and taught me that life is a priceless gift, so we need to appreciate it and use every single minute to love each other and be grateful and happy even if we're not satisfied.
It also made me discover that I truly love my country and wouldn't want to leave it. In the end, all I can do is pray for God to give peace to all people all around the world.
What message do you have for Farah living in Syria today?
