J-14 is scouting out the hottest music around... and this week's pick is alternative pop rocker Larzz.
Here are five things you need to know about Larzz whose newest EP Love This Life is out now!
1. Connecticut's 21-year old pop artist Larzz has been in to music from the very beginning and started playing guitar when he was nine. When he was only a sophomore in high school, he started a one person pop band called Show Me The Skyline where he first got his taste of the music industry.
2. Larzz is a nickname that he's had since he was a kid, coming from a character on Nickelodeon's cartoon Rocket Power.
3. He best describes his sound as "electronic influenced pop music" with a positive message. "It's fun and positive," He tells J-14 about his new EP. "They're all pretty positive. Three [out of the four] of them are about having a good time and being a positive person."
4. Some of his musical inspirations include pop artist Andy Grammer, The Ready Set, Skrillex, and Deadmau 5 and he'd love to do a song with Disney actress and Hollywood Record's Bridgit Mendler.
5. The title of the album and the debut single "Love This Life" was written when Larzz was out in Los Angeles. "We were trying to come up with something that would give a positive message," he tells J-14. It's also one of his favorite tracks he's ever done.
