When it premiered on October 17, 1993, Halloweentown immediately became a fan-favorite Disney Channel Original Movie. Starring Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J. Brown, Judith Hoag, Joey Zimmerman, Phillip Van Dyke, Emily Roeske and Robin Thomas, the original flick spawned three sequels, which added Daniel Kountz and Finn Wittrock to the cast list.

The iconic film followed a girl named Marnie Piper who found out that she was a witch after her Grandma Aggie came for a visit on Halloween night. With the discovery of her powers, Marnie and her family open the portal to a magical world called Halloweentown filled with ghosts, goblins, ghouls and, of course, witches.

“The movies have definitely meant a lot to me just growing up, and now that they mean a lot to other people, it makes it so much more significant,” Kimberly told E! News in October 2021. “But now, there’s this aspect of our personal lives too that has bonded us in a different way. It definitely has just made it that much more special and just the irony, too, of us playing hardcore enemies and then being quite the opposite of that in real life.”

Of course, the actress is referring to her real-life romance with costar Daniel.

“I hadn’t seen her in years and I’m waiting, I’m sitting at the bar waiting and she comes walking in and I was like, ‘Well hello there it’s been a while, hi!’ So it was pretty much just right away I was like, damn girl,” the actor-turned-real estate agent also told E! News. “When I first saw her when she walked in after we hadn’t seen each other forever, there was a definite shift and ‘Oh, you’ve grown up. Like, oh OK, you’re wearing heels, wow, look at that. You’re like a pretty lady.’”

And the rest is history! The two are together, and would love to reprise their Halloweentown roles.

“[I] definitely want to come back and get his revenge, because so many fans have pointed out over the years it was kind of open-ended the way he flew off in a bout of baddie rage,” Daniel said. “Kal reformed, came back and apologized. He’s still got that bad streak in him, but it’s not as bad as it was back then.”
