It was a mere two months ago when the final Pretty Little Liars episode aired and after seven years of twists and turns, the show concluded on a rather eye-rolling note. But now, PLL is coming back, or at least two of the characters from the beloved series are starring in a new show together.

It was announced that Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish, who played Alison and Mona, will be reprising their roles in the new show, The Perfectionists. The show is promising us tons of drama and like PLL is about a group of characters who are dealing with a murder in some capacity. "Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi," Freeform said in a statement about the series.

Now as someone who never missed an episode of PLL despite waves of frustration and confusion I felt along the way, I'm the first to say I'm loyal AF when it comes to a TV show and if I've invested time and energy into a series, I'm going to stick it out until the end. No matter what. So I was genuinely intrigued hearing that another show from Marlene King featuring two PLL characters was in the works. While this show is apparently completely separate from what went down all these years for the girls in Rosewood and all their drama, my first reaction though was TOO SOON, TOO SOON. I've barely had any time to miss Spencer, Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Alison for another show to be already on the way. But the fact that it's technically not a spin-off is even more mind-boggling. See, this series is based on another book series the author of Pretty Little Liars also came up with.

"Sara Shepard who wrote PLL also wrote this book series. It has nothing to do with PLL, they're just kind of putting my character into it. It's still a murder mystery and it's a really interesting plotline. I don't think I can say anything yet!" Sasha said to E! News about the series. OK, so there is clearly a whole new story and has nothing to do with PLL and yet two key characters from the PLL universe are going to be the stars of it.

Now as you may remember if you watched that final episode of PLL, Alison and Mona had rather interesting endings. Alison and Emily finally were together, raising twin baby girls. They're one happy family and Shay Mitchell isn't starring in this show so what does it mean for Emison?! Well according to Sasha, things are just fine for the couple.

"I know a lot of the fans are wondering about Emison, and Emison is good. We’re great. The babies are good. That stays the same," she said. I'm sorry, but I'm a tad bit confused as to how Emison is all fine and well and yet Alison will be off in another town getting into who knows what without her loving family she finally has by her side. Is she only going to drop in on them every once and a while? I have a lot of questions about how this is going to work. We did not get all emotionally invested and wait seven years for Ali to realize Emily is the true love of her life for us to not even get to see them living happily ever after together, and for Alison to be off on this new journey without her girl by her side.

And then that brings me to Mona. She was always the one character you never knew if you could fully trust, but at the end of PLL, she was in Paris running a doll shop. We saw that she actually had Alex (Spencer's long lost evil twin — nope, still not over that plot twist) and Mary Drake locked up in an actual, life-size dollhouse. So I don't understand: are they just chilling in the dollhouse by themselves, rotting away? Did Mona turn them over to the police like she should've in the first place? Will we even get any answers to these questions?

I know, I know, it's way too soon to tell what is going to happen on The Perfectionists and if anything, I do know that Marlene knows how to create a show that will have everyone hooked. As much as I appreciate PLL and what it was, a part of me was ready to fully let go and move on. It's one thing if Sasha and Janel were playing all new characters in this new series. It's just kind of strange to me that they will be Ali and Mona again, since we are fully aware of the extremely complicated baggage they both have. Look, I'm sure the show will be a hit and, of course, I will be tuning in to meet this new crop of characters and find out exactly what Ali and Mona are up to, but I'm a bit ~skeptical~ at the moment about it all.
