Gigi Hadid is currently getting dragged left and right on social media for something she said mid interview about her famous boyfriend, Zayn Malik. In the recent interview, Gigi referred to Zayn as "half – middle eastern" when in reality, Zayn is actually Pakistani.

OOPS?

Gigi's mistake came when she was being interview about her Tommy X Gigi Collection in Dubai, when she said that she feels a certain connection with fans and people who come up to her in general, and tell her that they have Middle Eastern roots too.

Explaining what makes her relationship with Zayn so special for the both of them, the model said: "When someone comes up to me and they tell me, 'I'm Palestinian' and we make a connection, it's beautiful. My boyfriend is also half Middle Eastern. It's just a connection that you make that's really cool. It's hard to explain but you feel like you're amongst [your] people."

But the awkwardness ensued when Gigi was informed shortly thereafter – by millions of fans in the internet, no less! – that Zayn actually isn't from the Middle East but from South Asia, because Pakistan shares its borders with India and not with a Middle Eastern nation.

Of course, fans have taken the opportunity to correct the model in some not so subtle ways:

Welp, everybody makes mistakes and we really should try to be less harsh on the blonde beauty for her slip of the tongue. We're sure she won't make the same mistake twice!
