Hailey Baldwin feels free when she is not on social media. Like many celebrities before her, the model took a break from social media not too long ago, and in a new interview with The Times magazine, she has revealed that it is because the hate she gets causes her to feel "depressed and anxious."

“I needed some space,” she said about her month-long hiatus. “Sometimes I feel it’s too much. If I could have kept off it longer, I would have but I had to post things for work. From the moment I turned it off to the day I turned it back on, I was free.”

“It definitely does something to the soul. There are times when I feel depressed or anxious and a big part of it comes from that. If we didn’t have social media, we’d have a weight lifted off our shoulders," she told the magazine.

She said that she tries not to post racy photos of herself with deep or religious quotes and that when she does post risqué selfies it is usually work related: "I try to make my Instagram more about work than not…There are times when I put something up and I’m like, ‘Please don’t think this is me. This is work.’ ”

The model said that even though some stars say they do not care about what people say about them, she does for sure: “It does affect you. People tell me I’m ugly, I’m fat. I try not to care but the fact is, everyone wants to see what people are saying about them. Whoever says they don’t google themselves is a liar.”

Though Hailey comes from a super famous Hollywood family, it was her romance with Justin Bieber that caused her to have so much negative attention and hate from fans, so much so that she refused to talk about him during the interview claiming the abuse she got from fans was shocking.

She is used to this kind of negative attention since she says she does not book a lot of runway shows as a model because she is not "supertall," and that she relies on a Bible verse her mother taught her about strength to get through anything.

"People don’t always give me a chance. It’s weird, when you’re younger, to be told by adults that they don’t like you. I used to wonder why these grown-ups were hating on a 17-year-old."

She now has millions of followers on social media and her photos her thousands of likes, even if some people only go on her page to hate on her. She is good friends with supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid and is living a life some people can only dream of. So it is crucial for her to be able to separate social media from her real self and real life.

We cannot believe Hailey has been dealing with depression and anxiety from this!
