The people have spoken and the people can't get enough of Niall Horan!

Niall caught everyone off guard back in 2016 when he shockingly released his first ever solo song, "This Town." Seriously, no one saw it coming. Directioners had their eyes on Harry Styles and Liam Payne. But leave it up to Nialler to completely blindside the fandom with a tune so great even haters had it on repeat.

After he dropped the track, it was full steam ahead. Niall did press for it across the country, he did phone interviews, in-person interviews, performances, red carpet appearances and was a good sport about answering the endless One Direction hiatus questions. One thing is for sure, the people noticed!

Last night at 2017 People's Choice Awards, Niall won the award for Favorite Break Out Artist. He was up against Alessia Cara, The Chainsmokers, DNCE and Zayn Malik. Yes, Zayn. Niall totally beat out his former band member which is kind of incredible because Niall only has one song and Zayn has an entire album and a newly released single with Taylor Swift.

While Zayn hasn't spoken up about Niall's win, the blonde cutie took to Twitter to express his utmost gratitude for the acknowledgment. He wrote, "Well that's something to wake up to. thank you so much for voting for me, I really appreciate it .. amazing."

We're so excited for Niall because he really does deserve this! Of course, this isn't to say that Zayn isn't talented. He's obviously got crazy vocals and can sell albums – just peep how successful Mind of Mine was.

It seems like Niall may have taken the trophy for this award because of the way he interacts with fans not only in the cyber world but also in real life. There's just something about seeing that Irish heartthrob on stage with a guitar, belting out his tune that makes girls weak in the knees!

Congratulations to Nialler – what a major accomplishment as a solo artist!
