There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are absolutely head over heels for one another, based on the sweet pictures they share of one another on social media.
The two aren’t afraid to show their affection for one another either, and now the model is opening up about her relationship with the “Pillowtalk,” singer and what happened during their first date that made the two connect.
While appearing on the Ellen Degeneres Show, to promote her latest fashion collaboration with designer Tommy Hilfiger, the conversation quickly shifted to the model’s relationship with the singer.
Gigi revealed during the interview that she and Zayn actually met for the first time at a friend’s birthday party a few years ago and hadn’t seen or spoken to each other since. It was just last year that the model hoped she’d see him again and reconnect.
“He was in New York to come to the Victoria’s Secret fashion show and ended up not coming,” she told Ellen.
After that disappointment Gigi explained how she next hoped to see the singer by admitting, “I was like, I’ll play it cool, and go to the after party and he wasn’t there. It was later on that week that we ended up going on our first date.”
Then Ellen asked if Zayn had taken a page out of Gigi’s book on the date, and played cool like she had been doing since their first meeting. Turns out they both did but not for very long!
“We played it cool for about 10 minutes, and then I was like, you’re really cute. We connected really quickly, and we had the same sense of humor and just started sharing videos,” she continued to say.
The rest is history, and it just goes to show that like a lot of us – even Gigi Hadid has a hard time playing it cool around a guy she really likes.
