Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus may have grown apart since their Disney Channel days but that doesn't mean they still don't have the utmost respect for each other.
Miley has been super busy promoting her new track, "Malibu" and has brought up the subject of marijuana multiple times. She was the biggest advocate for the substance in the past and never hid the fact that she liked it. No really, anyone that follows her on Instagram can attest to that. It felt like every other photo had some sort of marijuana leaf, paraphernalia or reference.

Now, because she wants to really focus and perfect her music, her upcoming performances and possibly a tour, Miley has put her love for marijuana on the back burner. She said she has completely stopped smoking and Demi had something to say about it.
The "Stone Cold" singer has gone through her own struggle with addiction in the past which is why she probably felt like she could relate and talk about the whole thing. She chatted with The Hollywood Reporter and said, "I am really proud of Miley. I think that it helps people to know that there are people in the spotlight that have challenges, that are faced with very stressful lives. I think it helps to know that recovery is possible and it’s something that is so important to certain people like myself."

Demi just celebrated being 5 years sober and we give her total props. This is a real accomplishment and it's pretty amazing that she is now supporting her old friend. While Miley has yet to comment on Demi's praise for her, we have a feeling she would be really appreciative.
Miley seems like she has a new way about her. Ever since she released "Malibu" she seems happy. She seems free. She seems like a different person and we can't help but wonder if that is all due to the fact that she quit smoking.
Only time will tell if this sticks or she decides to go back to her old ways.
