Miley Cyrus has shown the world very distinctly different sides of herself over the years. From the Hannah Montana days, to the twerking tongue-out poses time, to a now more peaceful, totally in love, chilled out vibe, Miley has changed. A lot. And in a super honest new interview with Harper's Bazaar, the "Malibu" singer admits she is 100% in a new place in her life now, but that doesn't take away from who she used to be at all.

"I feel really kind of far away from that person," Miley said about her last musical era. "I just want people to see that this is who I am right now. I’m not saying I’ve never been myself. Who I was on the last record was really who I am. It’s just myself has been a lot of different people because I change a lot. I think I’m just figuring out who I am at such a rapid pace that it’s hard for me to keep up with myself."

So she's clearing already fully embracing this new chapter and she wants everyone else to jump on the bandwagon too. Miley is all about changing and if you've followed her career at all, the you know she really has been a straight-up new human a few times already. This is something she's fully aware of and yes, it bugs her when she hears the famous line, 'Where's old Miley?'

"It’s really scary sometimes, someone saying, 'This is who I am.' People have known me since I was so young, they think they know me. I heard so many comments like, 'We just want Miley back.' But you can’t tell me who that is. I’m right here," she said. "People get told that it’s a bad thing to change. Like, people will say, 'You’ve changed.' And that’s supposed to be derogatory. But you are supposed to change all the time."

Old Miley, new Miley, she's still just being Miley no matter what, so something to keep in mind. And what about her early days on Disney Channel playing the one and only Hannah? The singer admits she's kind of unintentionally blacked out a lot of memories from that very weird time in her life.

"There’s so much I don’t remember about being a child entertainer because it was so much to keep in my brain. It’s like anything when you are in it. I didn’t realize how much pressure I was under and how that shaped me until, like, this year," Miley explained. "People were so shocked by some of the things that I did. It should be more shocking that when I was 11 or 12, I was put in full hair and makeup, a wig, and told what to wear by a group of mostly older men."

She odes bring up a valid point right there. But now, as a 24-yeard-old woman, she's forging her own path, and she has been for quite some time. She hopes that people will look at her ever-changing ways not as a bad thing that makes them long for a time when she was different, but as a reminder that it's totally OK to be yourself, no matter who you are in that moment.

"I think I show people that they can be themselves. I also think something that has been important for me, in this next little, like, transition phase of my career is that I don’t give a f—k about being cool. I just want to be myself."

That's the Miley we all know and love.
