John Mayer has not been shy about confessing that he misses his ex-girlfriend Katy Perry—and the new video for his song "Still Feel Like Your Man" is proof. In an interview with The New York Times, he had no problem confessing that the song was in fact about him missing the singer who has been his only relationship in the past six years.

“Who else would I be thinking about?” he said when asked about how people might react to the song's message. “And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”

Some of the lyrics say: "I still keep your shampoo in my shower/In case you wanna wash your hair/ And I know that you probably found yourself someone somewhere/ But I do not really care."

The video which was released this week features a girl who eerily resembles the "Firework" singer, hiding behind a veil and covered in butterflies.

Butterflies have been a part of Katy's image in many of her past music videos and performances.

In the second verse he sings, "Still like the letters in your name and how they feel, babe/Still think I'm never gonna find another you/Still like to leave the party early and go home, babe
And don't you know, babe/I'd rather sit here on my own and be alone, babe." HOW SWEET!

Another visible ode to his ex in the video is the use of Geishas, who Katy has expressed her love for in the past and has actually gotten her in some trouble with people accusing her of cultural appropriation. While trying to stay true to the theme, John was as careful and as sensitive as possible so that people were not offended.

“I think we were as sensitive as we could possibly be. It was discussed at every juncture. Part of cultural appropriation is blindness. I’m on the right side of the line because it’s an idea for the video that has a very multiethnic casting, and nobody who is white or non-Asian is playing an Asian person.”

He said he along with his team “thought long and hard about how to approach” the concept without being offensive to anyone saying, “I hope there’s an understanding that we were sensitive to it. Do I think that someone is going to tweet that this is cultural appropriation? Yes. It’s going to be interesting to see.”

It also seems the singer is ready for something serious in his life, and perhaps this is his plea to have the "Chained to the Rhythm" singer come back into his life now that she is single.

“I wish there was somebody to throw me the 40th,” he said about his upcoming birthday. "I want the baby with the protective earphones…I’m right on time for my career, and I’m running late for my life."

So sad! We hope that maybe after watching the video Katy sends him a text and they can take it from there.
