Shawn Mendes is currently slaying the music world and Camila Mendes is one of the main stars of the show literally everyone is obsessed with, Riverdale. They're both super talented, stunningly beautiful and happen to have the same last night. So everyone wants to know, are they family? Well, sorry but no!

Shawn and Camila Mendes are not related.

They just so happen to have the same last name, that's all. Shawn's dad is Portuguese, which obviously makes Shawn half Portuguese, while Camila's family is Brazilian. She is fluent in Portuguese since that's the language that is also spoken in Brazil.

"I connect with my culture through my family. I speak Portuguese to my parents so that I can practice. I stay engaged with my extended family through a lively group chat on WhatsApp. That sense of community and family is the heart of Brazilian culture, and staying engaged with my family is what keeps me connected," Camila said to People Chica

They both have sisters.

Ironically enough though, their family dynamics are pretty similar. Shawn has one sibling, a younger sister named Aaliyah ad they really do look so much alike, it's rather precious.

Shawn is from Canada while Camila is from the U.S.

Any Shawn fan knows he's actually from Canada and Camila has lived all over the United States and even in Brazil.

"I grew up in a lot of places. I moved around a whole lot when I was younger. I was born in Virginia then I moved to Atlanta, then back to Virginia and back to Atlanta. Then I moved to Orlando, when my parents divorced. Then my mom and I, with my sister, moved to Brazil for a year. From there, she was like okay no, I don’t want to live in Brazil anymore. So we went back to Florida, except this time we went to South Florida. From there, it was Coral Springs, Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and then I moved to New York. We were like ping-ponging everywhere. Even within cities, we would move from different houses and stuff. It was kind of crazy," Camila said in an interview with Latina.

And yes, Camila is well-aware that her name is a combo of Camila Cabello and Shawn's.

Her tweet says it all:

Don't worry girl, you're always Veronica Lodge to us.
