Ariana Grande revealed the shocking news that she didn't exactly struggle with her breakup with Big Sean — and now the artist is telling V magazine that their relationship won't really be reflected much in her new album. She says that she had already "kind of moved on" when she started writing Moonlight. So while we might get some hints about their relationship, that won't be the primary focus.
"You know, people found out [about the breakup] quite a while after it actually happened. By the time I was writing the new album, I had kind of moved on. It’s not going to be captured on the album too much. I’m in a happy place. There aren’t any breakup anthems because I had moved on. I was like, alright. Well, f*** it," she said.
"I’ve been feeling a lot more empowered, and grown up, and independent. I think that’s part of the reason I didn’t want to make [an angry] break-up song. I was not focused on that. Everything is nice and great right now…why would I write about some [crap]? I’d rather write about some really lovely things that are going on."

Might she be talking about her new boyfriend, Ricky Alvarez? Well, she couldn't help but say that this is the most "personal" music that she's ever made.
"Moonlight is very honest and very special to me. I feel like this is the most personal music I’ve made, by far. I’m very proud of it and I’m very excited. It’s scary…it’s vulnerable and kind of terrifying."
We're totally ready to hear her more confessional music, but we can't pretend that we're not a little surprised that she won't be addressing their split in her music. It seemed like a pretty big deal at the time!
