Ashley Tisdale stepped out with her husband Christopher French on Sunday for Elton John's Oscar party. The two walked the red carpet posing alone and together. This all seemed completely normal until a few Internet trolls started questioning whether or not the High School Musical star was pregnant.
Ashley wore a skintight purple dress that supposedly made her midsection look like there was a pregnant belly starting to form. Let's just say, Ashley was not happy about the rumors and quickly took to Twitter to squash them.
She said, "The pressure to being perfect is a struggle. No im not pregnant, I’m just happy and haven’t been strict on my diet but thanks for the reminder."

Yikes. This so NOT okay. Ashley makes a really valid claim here. The pressure to be perfect is a lot to deal with in the culture that we live in, especially for celebrities whose lives are picked apart under a microscope. No one should be made to feel bad about their bodies if they aren't extremely thin. It's important to remember that even though celebrities seem like they have too much going on in their lives to see body shamers comments, that's just not true. They do see them. Obviously, Ashley saw this one and felt so upset about it that she needed to address it as soon as possible.
Her response was spot on.
The original rumor is laughable because she definitely does not look big in the photos. Luckily, her real fans sent her supportive messages after she sent out the tweet and hopefully made her feel a little bit better. Here's a few that were particularly amazing.
After all of the support, it's obvious that a lot of people never gave into the fake news in the first place. However, Ashley shouldn't feel pressure to look a certain way. As she said, she's happy and hasn't been strict with her diet. AND that's really okay. We have a feeling that when she really is pregnant, she won't want to hide it. So, let's just wait for her announcement when it actually does happen.
Assuming someone is pregnant because of the way their stomach looks on one particular day is never an accurate measure. Some days these celebs eat that extra piece of pizza in front of them before slipping into a revealing outfit. Because, hey, they are only human, right? Right.
What do you think about the rumor? Was Ashley right to slam the story or should she have let it go? Let us know in the comments below!
