It was the news no one saw coming.

Disney Channel and social media star, Jake Paul had decided to part ways. Both he and the network announced the big update that he will no longer be reprising his role of Dirk Mann on Bizaardvark.

Yes, Jake is no longer part of the Disney fam, but it appears there was no bad blood about the decision. It was a mutual choice by the YouTube star and the network, something he told fans when breaking the news to them on Twitter.

Jake wrote, “Long story short…my team, Disney Channel, and I have come to the agreement it’s finally time for me to move on from the Disney family and Bizaardvark. Being a part of the Disney family for the past two years was incredible and a dream come true.”

“I love my cast mates but I have outgrown the channel and feel its time to move forward in my career. At this point in time I am wanting to focus more on my personal brand, my YouTube channel, business ventures, growing Team 10 and working on more adult acting roles,” he wrote in his letter to fans.

The network also announced that the decision was mutual in an official statement that read, “We’ve mutually agreed that Jake Paul will leave his role on the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark. On behalf of the production company, the cast and crew, we thank Jake for his good work on the TV series for the past 18 months and extend our best wishes to him.”

Of course, this comes right on the heels of Jake making headlines – and not in the best way, for disrupting the neighborhood he and the rest of Team 10 currently call home, in a now infamous interview with KTLA 5.

Weeks after though, Jake has admitted that the KTLA 5 interview was Disney Channel's final straw. It's what pushed the network to let him go. Jake chatted with The Hollywood Reporter said it all started when his videos became a bit off brand for Disney.

"I was becoming edgier with my content," he explained. He said Disney would send angry emails his way about the videos, one time in particular when he "put a middle finger up in a video for literally half a second…I don't know if they were having someone scan my videos full-time, but I'm guessing they were. There kept on being moments like that every few weeks."

When he made the KTLA 5 news, Jake admitted, "They basically called me and were like, 'Yo, what's going on, what's going on?' And I just explained the situation, and they were like, 'OK. We want to expedite this process of weaning you off the show.' And I was like, 'Yeah, that's fine. But it's going to look like you guys fired me.' And they were like, 'We can say that we mutually parted ways and blah, blah, blah.' And that's the reality of the story."

Honestly, props to him for owning up to the situation and setting the record straight. The truth is obviously always better. Jake will certainly be missed when Bizaardvark returns for the rest of its second season. Not only that, but he will miss his Bizaardvark buds as well. In a video he posted to his YouTube channel, Jake explained everything in further detail. It's safe to say he's super sad for this chapter to close, but it's what's best in his mind.

He explained, "I loved everyone that was a part of Bizaardvark and all of the castmates. Olivia, Madison, DeVore, Ethan – it's gonna suck like not being able to be with you guys every week now, and it's so amazing to see you guys grow as individuals. And you guys are all stars in your own right, and literally, your guys' futures are all so, so, so bright. And yesterday Ethan posted a video on his Instagram, and like I was sitting there – it made me like want to cry. It was so sad because I'm not gonna be able to vlog with him as much anymore."

As for why he felt he had to part ways, he suggested it mostly boiled down to time commitment issues with being on set and maintaining his own Team 10 brand.

Jake said, "Being on set with Disney was a full-time job – plus I was doing everything on top of that. I made it look like it was easy to vlog, but you would only see a part of that. I wasn't sleeping, it was unhealthy. Because of that, it caused problems for me it caused problems for Disney because I would always be like, 'Can I please have more time off?' and it was hard of them to work around me."

Aside from juggling Disney and Team 10, Jake also seems to feel as though he has outgrown the network.

"Personally I feel like I've gotten so much older in the last two years, and my brand is evolving," he continued. "I want to pay more adult roles in acting in that sense. It wasn't always fun to be playing the kid role all the time. It's funny, yes, but I didn't think two years from now, which potentially is how long I could've stayed with Disney, that that's what I want to be doing at 22 years old, playing a 16-year-old."

And as for that Disney tattoo Jake has, he doesn't regret getting it. However, we shouldn't expect him to return to the channel anytime soon.
