Descendants 2 is right around the corner and this magical universe wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the mastermind that is Kenny Ortega. He is the director of both Descendants movies and another Disney Channel series you might be familiar with: High School Musical. So you know, he's a legit legend among us. Speaking of HSM, that DCOM series was a trilogy, with the final movie being shown in theaters and it was the perfect way to finish the Wildcats' story. So what about Descendants? Does this mean there will be another movie in the series?
Well in a new interview with People's Choice, Kenny said that he would be totally down for another Descendants movie as long as the fans want it to happen, and he already has some Disney Channel icons in mind to star in it.
"I would like Miley [Cyrus] to come back and I would like Vanessa [Hudgens] to come back. How about the Jonas Brothers could all come back and be our Lost Boys? I’m a big fan of so many of the artists that have come out of the channel and have gone on to have great careers, those that I’ve had an opportunity to work with and those that I haven’t had an opportunity to work with," Kenny said.
OK can we talk about this dream cast for a second. KENNY IS ALL OF US.
Now there hasn't been any official word as to even if a third movie is going to happen yet, but there is one of the main stars who wants it to happen to: Dove Cameron. Mal herself wants to make a ton of Descendants movies, forever if she would.
"Oh yeah, I was to see Descendants 3, 4, 5, 6. All of it. Bring it on!" Dove said in an interview with Access Hollywood at the D2 premiere.
So we can only hope D3 happens and since the sequel is being shown simultaneously on five different networks — Disney Channel, ABC, Freeform, Disney XD and Lifetime — at 8 p.m. on July 21, we have a feeling this movie is going to be major. And another mega-success means another movie in the series, right? We want to believe it! And if Kenny can work some magic to get these Disney Channel OG stars in it, then that would be the true happy ending we all deserve.
