Ed Sheeran is taking the next major step in his career and launching his own record label! The singer recently revealed the exciting news to The Sun and said he's ready to start signing new talent.
“The door has now been opened, I’ve set up the label and I’m going to start signing people,” he said. “It’ll be an imprint that goes through Warner. But I’ll get the rights back in about ten years.”
According to Ed he feels "really fortunate" to able to kickstart aspiring stars' careers, especially since he knows how much of a struggle singer-songwriters have when it comes to landing a record deal. Instead of trying to find the next big pop star, he's looking for artists who are similar to him,
“I’ve got my first signing in mind. I’m looking at people like me, who came through the singer-songwriter scene," he said. “I’m going to focus on this when I’m on tour next year. Hopefully the acts will be up and running by the time I take time off."
We bet he'll have his new artists open for him on tour!
