We were first introduced to One Direction when they opened for Big Time Rush way back in 2012 — but apparently BTR wasn't as happy with their tourmates as they seemed! In a recent interview, Kendall Schmidt revealed that it "sucked" to have 1D open for them.

"Let’s put it this way: when One Direction were opening for us, their support was blossoming. As cool as it was to hang out with them, it sucked for us because there would be 2,000 girls outside the show singing their songs, even though we were headlining."

Kendall says they felt like they were being used by their record label in order to promote the 1D boys.

"The only reason we were on tour with them is because we had the same [record] label and they were using us to promote the band in America. We didn’t think that was fair, but it happened and the rest is history."

Now that BTR is taking a break from the band and 1D plans on making music together for a long time, One Direction has definitely taken over the spotlight. But we had no clue they felt that way!

The Wanted also blamed One Direction for their breakup, but they had drama before. BTR and 1D always seemed like they had such a great time together on tour, so we didn't realize there was this underlying tension.

Do you think it was fair for 1D to take the attention from Big Time Rush on their headlining tour? Should BTR still be upset about it? Sound off in the comments!
