Ever since we found out that Ed Sheeran wrote One Direction's "Little Things," we've been eager to hear another one of his tracks for the band. Thankfully, his music is making an appearance on their upcoming album, Four. It's about time!
During an interview with Capital FM, Simon Cowell spilled lots of details about "18," the track Ed wrote for the group.
“He wrote a great song. The funny story was that Ed came down to see me at Got Talent, as he was performing, and he came up to the dressing room and I went, ‘Where’s the One Direction song?’ And he said ‘I didn’t know you wanted a song from me’ and I went ‘yeah’,” he said.
“And then literally a week later he comes round to my house with his manager one night, turned up around 11 o’clock and said ‘Do you like this song?’ and he played me ‘18’ and it took me about a millionth of a second to say yes.”
In fact, Simon couldn't stop gushing about the track on-air, which is making us even more excited to hear it.
“It’s turned out really well," he said. "You know what I love about Ed? He’s generous. He could have kept that song but he loves writing hits.”
Plus, he does a really good job of it! We had a minor freak-out when we learned the singer-songwriter almost stopped writing songs for 1D, so we're glad he's back writing music for his besties.
Are you excited to hear Ed's song for One Direction? Do you think it will be even better than "Little Things"? Tell us in the comments!
