If our Instagram Hacks video wasn't enough to convince you how Insta-obsessed we are here at J-14, then their new feature will totally do it. Instagram just launched a brand new feature in its ongoing effort to make the app a safe, inclusive space for all of its users. Starting today, Instagram is enabling a "bullying filter," which eliminates comments intended to attack a person's appearance, character, and overall well-being. Anything that aims to make social media a positive space is something we'll get behind.

"This new filter hides comments containing attacks on a person's appearance or character, as well as threats to a person's well-being or health. The bullying filter is on for our global community and can be disabled in the Comment Controls center in the app. The new filter will also alert us to repeated problems so we can take action," Kevin Systrom, Co-Founder & CEO of Instagram said in a statement. "We are also expanding our policies to guard against bullying young public figures on our platform."

In honor of Instagram's overall effort to promote positivity and create a supportive community for all voices, they hosted a star-studded Kindness Prom on Saturday, May 5, 2018. The event served to celebrate Instagram influencers and other teens who are doing an exceptional job at inspiring and encouraging others – not just on Instagram, but across the world. 13-year-old Lexi, for one, 13-year-old author of children’s books created to inspire young people and build confidence. She also founded Curlanistas, a movement made to motivate girls of all ages embrace their natural hair. Also in attendance was Ahmed – a 19-year-old writer, social entrepreneur, poet, and former refugee from Iraq who founded @narratio_org, a global platform for youth empowerment through creative expression.

Naturally, @j14magazine was in on the action to give you an exclusive look at the prom-themed event. Actor and singer Bryce Xavier took over our Instagram Stories to bring you along on his prom experience – and of course, his girlfriend Nia Sioux made a cameo.

So sweet!
