Katy Perry is planning en epic Super Bowl halftime show this year and couldn't be more excited – she even burst into tears when she found out she landed the coveted spot because she was so happy! With around 110 million people tuning into the big game every year, it's an incredible honor to be chosen for the performance. But did Katy have to pay for the spot?
According to the singer, she was being pressured to pay the NFL for letting her perform, but she refused.
"I put my foot down very early in the courtship. I said, 'Look guys, here's where I draw a line in the sand,'" she said. "I want to be invited on my own merits and not with some fine print. I stuck to my position."
Katy is known for her empowering songs like "Firework" and "Roar" and it's great to hear that she fully believes in them. We love that she followed her gut and refused to be pushed around.
