TRUTH: It's Official, Selena Gomez Talks About What It's Like Being Single Again

Finally, the world has verbal confirmation that Selena Gomez is officially a single lady. Reports that she and The Weeknd had called off their 10-month relationship made their way around the Internet a couple of weeks ago, but the pair never made a statement or fed into any of the stories about them. Of course, shippers of Abelena had noticed some pretty odd things going on which basically proved that the break-up did happen. For starters, Selena was caught kissing her former flame, Justin Bieber. Not only that but The Weeknd was spotted leaving his ex, Bella Hadid's, New York City apartment. Those two things probably wouldn't have happened if Selena and The Weeknd were still going strong.

With all of the speculation, the questions and loss of sleep over what is really going on here, Selena has confirmed that she and The Weeknd are no longer together. In an interview with Billboard magazine, she was asked, what has been the best part about being single? Sel answered, "The best part? It’s actually... you know what, though? Something that I’m really proud of is that there’s such a true friendship [between me and The Weeknd]. I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life. We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me."

Aww! Is this not adorable? It shows that there is always two sides to every story. It sounds like maybe Selena and The Weeknd just kind of grew apart. Nothing bad ever happened between them. He was still there for her when she needed him the most during her kidney surgery. She still supported him during his tour. But, just maybe, they grew into best friends and the romantic side of things took a back seat. Again, that is just speculation on my part, but it sure seems like they have nothing but respect for each other as people and artists. One thing fans can count on is that there is no bad blood between them.

Was it hard for The Weeknd to see Selena hanging with Justin again? Maybe. Was it hard for Selena to see The Weeknd out with other girls at that Toronto nightclub? Probably. But, that's because they still have friendly feelings for each other, clearly. Breaking up doesn't always have to be a bad thing in the industry. And Selena didn't end up with something meaningful from the relationship – the dog, Charlie, that she and The Weeknd bought together.

The way Charlie came into Selena's life, is probably something she'll never forget and The Weeknd was right by her side when it all happened. "It’s actually funny -- it was my ex-boyfriend’s [The Weeknd] doing. We were walking down the street [in New York], and he saw a cute little puppy in the window and walked in. Charlie was in the corner. He had his head down and he just seemed really sad, and I loved him. I find I do that in every situation in life. I find that person -- or dog -- and I’m like, 'Yessss. That’s who I want.'"

Seriously, could this story be any cuter? Selena might be single but she sure doesn't seem too sad about it. She's got a lot going on in her life and it sounds like if she needed The Weeknd at some point in the near future, she wouldn't hesitate to pick up the phone and call him. They are, according to her, best friends after all.
