Although we were all sad to watch her say goodbye to The X Factor last week, J-14 was lucky enough to speak with Diamond White about her memories, performances, and fave celebrities (yes, we're talking about One Direction) from the show this season. Check out our interview below:
J-14: How did you make the decision that you wanted to audition on 'The X Factor' to begin with? Diamond: I saw it last year, and I was like, "I really want to do this." Just being able to sing in front of the celebrity judges, it was basically my dream. So I was like, "I'm just going to try for it and see what happens." My friend wanted to audition for it too, so we all took a trip down to San Francisco, and we waited in a long line and we had blankets. I just love singing, so I wanted to start with 'The X Factor.'
J-14: There was that huge shocker when you were sent home and then brought back. Can you tell us about that experience and what was going through your head? Diamond: When I got eliminated, it was kind of like time stopped, and I couldn't really tell what was going on. My brain just stopped working. It was really tough just to know that I wasn't going to be on the show anymore. Then they called me back and it was like, "Oh my gosh. I'm so grateful to be here. I'm so blessed that they called me back. I can't believe that this actually happened to me." It only happens to one contestant each year, so for the judges to believe that that contestant was me, it was amazing. It was a crazy experience, and I seriously was not expecting that to happen.
J-14: You guys had some huge guest stars on the show to perform. What was it like meeting One Direction and getting advice from them? Diamond: It was really awesome! One Direction is like--Oh my gosh. I'm a fan of them. They're really awesome guys and them being from The X Factor and not winning gives me hope that even after this, I can become the biggest pop star that ever lived.
Do you have a favorite 1D guy? Diamond: Zayn's my favorite! I was talking to him about his tattoos and it was really just like hanging out with One Direction!
J-14: Taylor Swift also performed on the show! What was that like? Did she give you any advice? Diamond: I'm a huge fan of Taylor Swift, so just seeing her perform and seeing how much power she has -- she has so much power on stage, she's so confident in what she's doing. I really look up to that, and she told us that it's important to be nice people because everyone knows everyone, and it's not good to have a bad attitude. She really takes her own advice.
