Before their first tour date on their co-headlining tour with Every Avenue, Tay Jardine and Jordan Eckes of We The In Crowd stopped by the J-14 office and gave us an exclusive acoustic performance, dished to us all about their current tour, their favorite songs off their album Best Intentions, and their plans for 2012!

J-14: You're currently on the unofficially titled I Love Tourtles tour. Where did that come from? Tay Jardine: There's a YouTube video from that kid on Halloween and the news reporter is like, "What are you being for Halloween?" and he's like, "I like turtles," so Josh [Randall] from Every Avenue Tweeted about it and said, "I think we should name it 'I Love Turtles.'" It's so unofficial that I don't even know what it is.

J-14: What are you most looking forward to about touring with Every Avenue? Jordan Eckes: Every Avenue is a bunch of really fun dudes. Tay: They like to work out. Maybe I'll get my work out on. I bring my running shoes every tour and I'm like, "Yeah, I'm going to do it," and then they sit in the trailer for a month.

J-14: Do you have a favorite song off your new album Best Intentions? Tay: One of my favorites is "Better Luck Next Time" and I really like the slow songs. Hopefully, eventually we'll get them into our set when we have some more time or something, like "You've Got It Made" or "All or Nothing." It was different to sing that way again, I liked it.

J-14: You guys will be hitting the road this summer on Warped Tour. This is your second year doing it, are you excited? Tay: I'm excited not to be the new kids. The first year we did it our EP came out weeks before and everyday I felt like I was the kid in the cafeteria about to drop their tray everywhere and finding somewhere to sit. It was so awkward. We learned a lot on that tour because we didn't know what we were doing and that was pretty much our first real tour. Before that we did tiny, little things. It was really hard. We learned a lot the hard way on that tour, for sure. But it was the most beneficial. I think releasing the record right around that time was the best thing we could have done.

J-14: What's next this year for you guys? More music or focusing on touring? What are some goals of yours for 2012? Tay: We were just talking about that on the way here! We have ideas, we're starting to come up with certain ideas for writing and stuff like that. Jordan: A lot of international touring. Tay: [Our goals are] the same as it's always been. Every year I say I just hope we can grow more and obviously stay the same people and stay grounded and all that. Have fun, experience new things.
