J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is 2 AM Club.
Here are five things you need to know about 2 AM Club, whose debut album What Did You Think Was Going To Happen? drops Tuesday, September 14!
The 2 AM Club is a six-piece band from Los Angeles that includes lead singer Marc Griffin, emcee Tyler Cordy, guitarist Matt Reagan, keyboardist Dave Dalton, drummer Ian O'Neill, and bass guitarist Matt Warshauer. "The general hope at this point is to bring music and words that are energizing and sweet sounding to people and can exist
exactly where they are, and then to play our songs as much as possible and as best we can." Dave tells J-14.
The band's single "Worry About You" is about caring for someone who's out of your emotional or physical reach. "It's about having to let them go to live out their journey but all the while making sure they know you still care about them," Ian explains.
2 AM Club is currently on the road with Mike Posner. The tour wraps up in Milwaukee, WI, on October 17. Get official tour dates here.
Tyler doesn't want the band collab with just one artist -- he's got a few major names in mind! "I think it'd be nice to get in a studio and have a huge musical throw down with 2 AM Club, Drake, Phoenix, and Robyn. Then bring in [OneRepublic's] Ryan Tedder and Rick Rubin to produce. Those artist all come from different musical spaces but are some of our favorite people."
When Marc was 14, he was influenced by rappers, not rockers! "I wore really baggy jeans and a long oversized white t-shirt. I listened to Tupac almost exclusively and played basketball for hours a day."
