J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is Camera Can't Lie.
J-14 has the exclusive online premiere of Camera Can't Lie's new single, "Last Dance." Listen here:
Here are five things you need to know about Camera Can't Lie, whose EP Not Everyone Leaves, is out now and whose song, "Last Dance" will be available on iTunes Tuesday, August 24!
Talk about smart guys! Singer/guitarist Eric Arjes, bassist Kyle Lindsay, and drummer Josh Bendell were inspired by a phrase that came from the 1960 Nixon-Kennedy presidential debates, when viewers said "the camera couldn't lie" and John F. Kennedy looked better than Richard Nixon on TV. "We were drawn to the name because it gave us something to work towards -- being the same people on stage as we are off," Eric tells J-14.
"Last Dance" is all about Eric being a self-described "hopeless romantic." "I really wanted to write a timeless love song, one with the most basic of ideas about being in love with someone," he explains.
Camera Can't Lie is currently on tour with Secondhand Serenade, The White Tie Affair, and Runner, Runner through September 4. A full tour date schedule is available on their MySpace page.
Eric says if he could perform with anyone, he'd pick Bono of the iconic band U2. "He is a true artist and vocalist in an age of autotune and overproduction," Eric tells J-14. "It would be such an inspiring moment for me.
Eric did a cover of B.o.B. and Hayley Williams' hit song "Airplanes" because someone asked him to cover a song that was "a little out of the box." Check out Eric's take here:
