J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is Every Avenue!
Here are five things you need to know about Every Avenue, whose new album Bad Habits is out now!
Every Avenue consists of vocalist David Straucham, guitarists Joshua Randall and Jimmie Deeghan, bassist Matt Black, and drummer Dennis Wilson. Before the guys got together, Dave was the only original member who was playing guitar at the time they got their name. "I use to play guitar in the band and the original singer and drummer was like, 'Yeah, Every Avenue' and I was like 'Cool! I'll play guitar!" Dave tells J-14.
This band from Michigan has gone through plenty of transformations throughout the years, though they've continued to stick to their pop-punk-rock roots. "I think lyrically, it's a little different for us. We've done some stuff that we normally wouldn't do." Dave says. "I'm really excited for it."
Even though at the end of the day it's all about the music, that doesn't stop the guys from having a sense of humor and pulling some fun pranks on each other on the road. "Den got covered in gold bond and toilet paper. It is bad cause we all stay at the same hotel so we all have fun a lot together," Dennis tells J-14. "It's like a traveling circus," Josh adds.
One of the most important things to these guys is that they're able to connect and interact with their fans. "Usually one of us during the day is always at merch and we always hang up our own posters and all that stuff. We're very accessible," Dave says. "There's no barrier. We'll hang out with anybody."
After participating in their first US headlining tour called Motel 6 last year, they hit the road again and are currently on the Vans Warped Tour alongside The Ready Set, Gym Class Heroes, and Simple Plan through the end of the month.
