J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is The June Junes!
Here are five things you need to know about The June Junes who are getting set to tour across the country and release their album later this year!
Born in Mexico and raised in Texas, 18-year-old twin brothers Max and Sam Woldenberg were surrounded by music from an early age. "We grew up listening to both rock and salsa, our father and uncles love to play music and would often play at family gatherings and parties," the guys tell J-14. "We had exposure to piano, drums and guitar at a pretty early age, which eventually lead us to writing music."
One thing that makes The June Junes so unique is that the pop/rock duo sings not only in English, but also Spanish. "We are always listening to different genres of music and being exposed to a wide variety of cultures. We are able to adapt these other forms of music into very unique ideas that inspires us in a whole different way, which to us is an amazing experience," The June Junes say.
Though finding the right band name proved to be a struggle, they eventually settled with The June Junes since it's the month they were born as well as the nickname of "someone very special in their lives."
In writing their music, they find inspiration within everyday life, as well as within different genres from The Beatles to Katy Perry. "We tend to write about our life experience with high school, dating, girls, love... we are true to our music and it comes from within our emotions," they tell us. "We feel that every genre has their own unique style, and there is always something to learn from it."
Their first released single "She's the Latest One" is all about finding your true love. "When you love someone, it doesn't matter who or what else is going on in the world, except that one person. The only one that matters is 'She's the Latest One.' That is the story of love."
