Good Luck Charlie star Bridgit Mendler took a break from her show to film the new Disney Channel Original Movie, Lemonade Mouth, in which she showcases her singing talents! She dished to J-14 about the new movie, plus her upcoming projects, like a GLC movie and an album!

J-14: What is Lemonade Mouth about from your perspective?
Bridgit Mendler:
Lemonade Mouth to me is the story of five kids who meet in detention and they all come from very separate groups. They come together as a band and they also come together as friends.

J-14: Tell us a little bit about your character.
Bridgit:
My character, Olivia, is kind of an interesting rebel. She gets in detention because she was hiding in the janitor's closet reading. She's not a bad kid, she just kind of prefers to live in her own world, her own imagination. So joining the band is kind of an interesting step for her because she's a bit of a loner at school. She is shy and she doesn't really exert herself. It's cool that she can take her imagination and her love for music and writing songs and turn it into this thing where she can make friends, too.

J-14: What was it like on set?
Bridgit:
Oh my gosh, there are too many fun memories to recount. I had so much fun on this movie. It's great working on a movie with a bunch of your peers because we were all able to goof off and just have a great time together. I first started working on the movie with Adam [Hicks] and Blake [Michael] because they were already in LA and they were the members of the band that were available earliest. So, we worked together on the music and then the girls arrived. We all just turned into this one massive group. There weren't cliques, we all just kind of meshed together nicely. We'd have movie nights and we'd have pillow fights and water fights and we made like this mock video of Shutter Island. We just did all sorts of goofy random things because we were in a hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We didn't have cars. We couldn't go places. We kind of just made our own fun around the hotel and it was great.

J-14: Are you filming the Good Luck Charlie movie now? What's it like?
Bridgit:
It's a very different set-up than Lemonade Mouth but it's also really fun because this is the first time I've gone to work on a movie with people that I knew prior to starting the movie. So I already know all of my cast mates and we're like a family already. It's like I'm going on my own family vacation. I've mainly been working on scenes with Leigh Allyn, who plays my mom on the show, and it's fun because the two of us are in all these scenes together and we just act like complete goofballs the whole time. I think to the point where it might annoy some crewmembers sometimes, but the rest of them are laughing and having a great time with us. We're just singing songs and doing dances and I feel like I'm hanging out with one of my girlfriends.

J-14: You just got signed to Hollywood Records! Can you tell us about that?
Bridgit:
I'm really excited to start working on my music. It's something that I've been working on my own for a long time and I really put a lot of thought into how I'd go about getting it out into the world. I haven't started recording any of my own music for the record yet but I'm really excited to do that when I get back in town. I have tons of songs that hopefully we'll be able to test out. You know, trial and error, see what works and what doesn't. I haven't taken any of them out of the acoustic guitar stage because that's where I wrote all of them. So it'll be interesting to see how they work with production. I'm really excited.
