Joey Graceffa's memoir In Real Life: My Journey to a Pixelated World comes out today, and he EXCLUSIVELY opened up to J-14 about his emotional writing process! The YouTube star says that it was really tough reliving his past, but the experience was ultimately very "therapeutic."

"There were definitely some chapters that, reading [them] back, I would cry. [They were] hard for me to write down, think about, and talk about," he said.

"It was definitely hard, and going through edits, and re-reading it, I was like 'I hate this, I hate this, I hate this. I just want this to be over.' But doing it was very therapeutic. I dealt with stuff that I kept hidden and blocked in my head. I'm glad that I did this because it opened old wounds but it also healed some."

That sounds like such an intensive process, but we're so glad that writing the book helped him (and is sure to help readers who are going through similar struggles). While Joey says that he's kept the details of his memoir purposefully vague, it sounds like we're in for a no-holds-barred look at his life so far, from his YouTube success to his struggles with bullying.

"No one's read it yet. It's kind of scary, I'm nervous. There are some people I'm nervous about reading it, but honestly it's what I went through and I'm not going to sugarcoat anything for anyone else's benefit. I'm going to be real because it happened to me and I'm going to talk about it," he told us.

Wow, that's so brave! We can't wait to read it.
