In the midst of tweets surrounding Bachelor Monday, a quite unexpected (and nostalgic) hashtag swept Twitter last night. Yep, that’s right. #JonasBrothers. And as the true Jonas Brothers fans we are, our hearts just about dropped into our stomachs in hopes of a reunion – but then, we realized this rumor needed some clarifying.

It all started when the band’s former keyboard player Ryan Liestman posted a photo alongside Nick, Joe and Kevin (and Ryan’s wife, of course) with the caption “Family reunion.” And what rose even further speculation was the fact that he posted with the other former Jonas Brothers backup musicians Greg Garbowsky and John Taylor the day before. While we love seeing these guys all together, they actually hang out a lot. Like – a lot, a lot. Just scroll through any one of their Instagrams, and you’ll see.

While people are legitimately losing their freaking minds over the Jonas Brothers “reactivating” their account, there are tons of true Jo Bros stans quietly rolling their eyes at the rumors. So let’s say it louder for those in the back… THE JONAS BROTHERS NEVER DEACTIVATED THEIR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT.

Soon after the photos of the band’s recent hangouts surfaced, people must have stumbled upon the Jonas Brother’s official Instagram account, proclaiming that it has been reactivated. However, their page has been alive and well since the band broke up in 2013. They just haven’t posted since their breakup.

How do we know? Well, we here at J-14 wrote a story about their Instagram account just this past August in celebration of Jonas Brothers Week to honor the 10-year anniversary of the boys’ breakout self-titled album. We uncovered some of the best comments that are still being left on their Instagram photos years later.

Another reason this fake rumor spread like wildfire is because their boy John just started following and liking their already-active (yet forgotten) account. Hey, maybe he was just feeling nostalgic.

The fact that the Jo Bros were trending was even a surprise to the boys themselves. Kevin shared his reaction live on air with radio host Elvis Duran. From Kev’s point of view, he just went on a ski trip with his bros, and the next thing he knew everyone was tweeting about a comeback. It sounds to us like he was just v caught off guard about all of this.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” said Kevin. “I don’t even know where to start.”

Nick reacted to the news via Instagram Stories, and all he had to say was “Whoa.” Come on Nick, give us a little more than that!

All together now… The. Account. Was. Never. Deactivated. As for a reunion? The verdict is still out on that one.
