Josh Hutcherson is known for his many iconic roles in films, the biggest and most well known to date of course being Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games films franchise.

Though now it appears that Josh is taking a backseat on the acting lane, and focusing his talents elsewhere – directing to be more specific. The actor has released a short film titled Ape under his own production company where he took on not one but two roles, that of actor and director.

It’s a passion The Hunger Games star hopes to keep pursuing too. In a new interview with Variety, Josh where he revealed that the reason he waited so long to take this major step had to do with, “being too overly ambitious and too young.”

“It was waiting until it felt right and this came across as a crossing point between those two factors: me always wanting to direct and now finally confident enough to do it, and this project sort of came in to my life,” he continued to say.

With some experience in the directing route now, it wouldn’t be too hard to imagine Josh putting those skills to use in perhaps directing a new Hunger Games film or reuniting with his former co-stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth for a special project back within the world of Panem.

Though the actor didn’t exactly confirm that a reunion was in the plans at the moment, it could be some time down the line. Josh admitted that he would love to work with his friends again, but under a few conditions.

"If it felt natural and right and not like a milking-the-cow money grab then I would for sure be down. I have no qualms at all about that—as long as they don't create some bad story so they can make some more money,” he explained in another interview.

As much as we would love to see Katniss, Peeta, and Gale back on the big screen, Josh does make a good point. Though we still have our fingers crossed for the trio to work on a special project together.
