Ever since Justin Bieber made his way into the spotlight over a decade ago, he hasn't left. But, the same can't be said about his parents, Jeremy Bieber and Pattie Mallette. Over the years, Justin has had an on and off relationship with both his mom and his dad. There have been times where he has been closer to one than the other and he hasn't been afraid to speak about it. Justin's relationship with his parents is actually something he has opened up about more than you think. Just recently the "Sorry" singer posted a photo on Instagram with a heartfelt message for his dad.

So, it got us thinking, what else has he said about Jeremy? And to take the one step further, what has he said about Pattie since stepping into the industry? Beliebers were able to see on Justin's documentary, Never Say Never, that he had a really close relationship with his mom in the early years. She was the one who flew with him to Atlanta to meet execs on day one. She was right by his side when his career took off. But, it didn't stay that way.

The editors here at J-14 rounded up everything Justin has said about Pattie and Jeremy. Between what she made Justin do at the tender age of seven to why Jeremy isn't the "deadbeat dad" he got the reputation of being – these quotes are completely eye-opening.

Justin Bieber belongs to Hillsong Church today but he always had strong roots in his faith.

He said, "When I was 7, she wouldn’t let me listen to anything but [Pastor Judah Smith]’s tapes falling asleep. [In the early stages of fame,] she had brought around a bunch of weird pastors — there’s a lot of weird ones — so I wasn’t too keen on meeting him." Now, Justin is completely wrapped up with Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz, however, Judah has actually become a much bigger force in his life than he was in the younger years. It's been rumored that Pastor Judah sends Justin text messages of Bible verses every day and was the one who encouraged Selena Gomez to reconcile with her first love during their rocky relationship. Pattie was the one that introduced Justin and Judah during a trip to Seattle in 2010 and they have been friends ever since.

Justin Bieber admitted that he and Pattie Mallette had a nonexistent relationship for a while.

"I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was. We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust. She’s living in Hawaii now, so it’s hard, but getting better. She’s an amazing woman and I love her." Since then, he and Pattie have somewhat reconciled. While they aren't seen together as much as they were when Justin was younger, they have gone to get pedicures and she even attended a few shows of his Purpose tour.

Justin Bieber explains that Jeremy Bieber was immature when he was born.

"He was immature. He left for like a year when I was about 4, went to British Columbia, came back on Father’s Day. I remember my mom said, ‘If you’re going to be here, you have to be here.’ There’s a misconception that he’s this deadbeat dad, but he has been in my life since. I was with him on weekends and Wednesdays." Now, the pair has grown super close – they might actually be closer than Justin and his mom at the moment.

Justin Bieber shared important advice Jeremy Bieber gave him.

"My dad told me this the other day. He said, ‘Pride is your worst enemy. It’ll pull greatness out of you.’ I just thought that’s so great, because he’s a prideful man — he has always known what’s best — and it has taken him this long to see that." This is probably one of the most candid quotes we've heard from Justin about his parents and we definitely have to give him props for him.

Justin Bieber had something to say about Jeremy Bieber giving his opinion about those nude photos of Justin that were snapped without the singer's knowledge.

"I do feel the photo was an invasion of my privacy. I felt super violated. My dad made light of it, but I don’t think that’s sick and twisted. It was funny. Dads are going to be dads," Justin said. He has a point here. Jeremy kind of thrusted the photo back into the spotlight when he called Justin out and commented on the nude photo of him hanging out in a private villa on vacation in Bora Bora. But, clearly, it's all good. Dad jokes are supposed to be funny, right?

Justin Bieber posted the most adorable photo of Pattie Mallette on Instagram for Mother's Day in 2015.

He captioned the pic, "This little 4'9 woman may not look like a mom but she is, and she's the best at it!. This woman taught me everything I know, how to love how to be compassionate how to be strong when the only thing u wanna be is weak how to stand when all you want to do is fall. If it wasn't for this woman lets just say I would have had a way LONGER stupid phase. I love u and thank u for not giving up on me!"

Justin Bieber talks about how Jeremy Bieber is 'the greatest dad in the world' on Instagram.

In 2014, the Biebs posted a dad appreciation post with the caption, "I have the greatest Dad in the world. He's taught me how to love, learn, and stay true to myself. I will forever be grateful because he was my superhero #batman."

Justin Bieber says his mother would try to tell him things but he wouldn't listen.

"Of course, yeah, we lost our relationship for awhile. She couldn't really tell me anything; she would try, but I wasn't listening to anybody and that sort of sucked. But our relationship is getting better now; we're getting it back." Doesn't this happen to all teenagers and their parents? I think so.

Justin Bieber says that as he got older he needed his parents less and less.

"You don’t need them as much. And for them, it’s like, you were all they had. Not all, but they were so invested in you. And then one day you’re just gone. And you’re doing your own thing, and you don’t need them, and you don’t value their opinion the same, either." His words are upsetting to think about. We can't imagine how Jeremy and Pattie felt when Justin did become this big superstar and felt like he didn't need them anymore. It's heartbreaking.

However, after everything that Justin and his parents have been through, they will always be there to support him. It's clear looking at Justin's most recent Instagram post, that he finally values their opinions, their time and their love. He captioned the shot, "I️ love continuing to get to know my father I️ love working through hard things to get to the good things.. relationships are worth fighting for especially with family!! Love you forever and always daddy!"
