Naturally, it would be easy to assume that for most actors – landing a role on a hit television series or film is something they have always aspired to do and accomplish.
Surprisingly, that doesn’t seem to be the case for Shadowhunters star, Katherine McNamara. Turns out, the actress had another career path in mind before she stumbled into the world of acting and realized it was something she wanted to do for the rest of her life.
In a new interview with Modeliste Magazine, Katherine opened up about another dream she had for herself, and revealed that her first passion was the world of Finance and Economics.
“I actually never intended to become an actor. My initial plan was to go into finance. Economics was my passion and I wanted to become a financial analyst, CFO, or economist,” she began explaining.
So how did she shift from the world of finance to acting? It was all due to a family friend of hers who allowed the actress to audition for a community theater production. “I gave it a shot for kicks, fell in love and well the rest is history,” Kat began to say.
Despite finding a new career path, the Shadowhunters star didn’t let her other passion slip away. “I fulfilled my economics dreams by pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration,” she said.
It’s wonderful to see that although Kat went in a totally different direction career wise, than originally planned – she allowed herself to follow both of her passions. It is also a great message to send out to all her young fans, that accomplishing any goal – no matter how many, is absolutely possible.
